PSAT Information for Hamilton Students and Families

The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered on October 16, 2019. This test is open to Hamilton High School students only. This year the district will pay for all 9th and 10th grade students to take the test for free.  It is also offered to 11th grade juniors for a cost of $20.00.  11th grade juniors who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch can come to Room 503 for a PSAT fee waiver.

What Scores will I receive?

In January, your school will receive your PSAT/NMSQT Score Report, which will be given to you in the following weeks. Your Score report will also include the NMSC Selection Index, which is calculated by doubling the sum of your Reading, Writing and Language, and Math Test scores. NMSC uses the Selection Index as an initial screen of the large number of entrants to it National Merit Scholarship Program. Once you get your score, visit to learn more about what these scores mean.
